Job Responsibilities
The Vision Systems Analyst group is part of the Core Technology Engineering team at Intuitive. The primary objective of this group is to deliver the highest image quality to our surgeons across all surgical systems.

The group's focus encompasses:

  • Imaging algorithms, algorithmic tuning, and calibration of endoscopes, displays, and illuminators to achieve exceptional image quality.
  • Defining and specifying the light source, optics, sensors, and displays utilized in our surgical robotic systems to ensure high-quality surgical imagery.

Key Duties:

  • Lead a team dedicated to the development of real-time image processing pipelines.
  • Ensure outstanding video quality for clinicians.
  • Invent, evaluate, and implement real-time image processing algorithms.
  • Prototype and test advanced imaging modes.
  • Incorporate surgical feedback into design iterations.
  • Prepare and review patent applications.
  • Collaborate with external vendors for technology selection and iterations.
  • Support formal risk analysis and documentation for regulatory submissions.
  • Assist in the verification and validation of the vision system.
  • Mentor and train fellow engineers.
  • Lead technical teams in complex engineering challenges.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum BS, MS, or PhD (MS or PhD preferred) in computer science, electrical engineering, physics, or a related field.
  • At least 8 years of industry experience in imaging.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience managing technical teams.
  • Proven ability to solve complex engineering problems.
  • Experience in developing image and video processing algorithms or control loops.
  • Strong scientific understanding of imaging physics and human perception.
  • Proficient in Matlab and C++.
  • Knowledgeable in camera sensors, displays, optics, and illumination sources.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with GPU/CUDA programming.
  • Experience in a regulated industry or on mission-critical applications.
