Position Summary

This role involves managing projects and programs that support statewide traffic operations, Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), active traffic management, and connected and automated vehicle (CAV) infrastructure. Responsibilities may include researching emerging ITS technologies and their effects on transportation systems, planning for ITS integration in transportation projects, leading ITS initiatives, overseeing statewide maintenance programs, and collaborating with ITS Engineers on design efforts. The position will also involve testing, integration, and evaluation of new technologies, preparation of procurement specifications, managing contracts, and overseeing product evaluations. Additionally, this role will support the development of design standards, policies, and procedures for ITS.

Salary Information

The Senior level position offers an annual salary range of $80,870 - $99,403 based on qualifications and experience.

The Advanced level position offers an annual salary range of $90,064 - $108,950 based on qualifications and experience.

All positions come with excellent benefits. A twelve-month probationary period is required. Compensation for current state employees will align with the Wisconsin State Compensation Plan.

Job Details

Qualifications

Minimum qualifications for the SENIOR level include:
  • A degree from an Engineering Accreditation Commission (EAC) ABET accredited college or university with a 4-year bachelor's degree (or higher) in engineering OR possession of a PE license (Professional Engineer registration in Wisconsin or ability to obtain within 3 months if registered in another state).
  • A minimum of 4 years of engineering experience post-degree from an EAC ABET accredited institution.

Additionally, qualifications for the ADVANCED level include:
  • A valid Professional Engineering registration and the ability to obtain Wisconsin PE registration within 3 months if registered in another state.
