Position Overview:

The Underwriting Technical Assistant plays a crucial role in the efficient management of policy-related transactions, ensuring precision and adherence to company standards and regulatory guidelines.

This position involves the examination and validation of policy applications, endorsements, and cancellations, accurately entering data into systems, and generating policy documents for clients.

The assistant addresses inquiries from policyholders, agents, and other relevant parties, delivering prompt and precise information regarding policy matters. Additionally, they support underwriting functions by evaluating risk factors and determining premium calculations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Timely and accurate processing of new business submissions with a focus on detail.
  • Complete underwriting applications with necessary information to rate, document, and issue compliant policies.
  • Bind and issue new and renewal commercial insurance policies.
  • Manage endorsements, cancellations, and reinstatements effectively.
  • Handle notices of cancellation, non-renewal notifications, and renewal solicitation communications.
  • Resolve booking and accounting discrepancies.
  • Engage with management, underwriters, and brokers to gather essential information for accurate processing.
  • Deliver efficient service to all internal and external stakeholders, including underwriters and brokers.
  • Generate and distribute routine and ad-hoc reports as required.
  • Participate in or lead special projects as necessary.
  • Collaborate with various departments to enhance process efficiency and innovation.

Qualifications:

A BA/BS degree is preferred, with a focus on business or technology being advantageous. A minimum of 3 years of experience in an office setting is desired, particularly in insurance and familiarity with core business systems and applications.

Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel and Word, is required, with SQL knowledge being a plus. Candidates should possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, a keen attention to detail, and a commitment to data integrity.

Strong organizational and time management abilities are essential, along with the capacity to meet quality and output standards set by management. A collaborative spirit and a willingness to learn in a dynamic environment are also important.
