The New York Foundation for the Arts is seeking a dedicated Human Resources Manager. Ideal candidates are HR professionals with a strong enthusiasm for human resources, particularly in the realm of HR systems and information management. This role requires the ability to identify and implement enhancements in collaboration with the AVP of HR and Administration, as well as other departments.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Oversee the recruitment process for new staff in partnership with hiring managers, which includes drafting job descriptions, posting job advertisements, screening applicants, and coordinating interviews.
  2. Assist the Office of the Dean with faculty recruitment and provide necessary support.
  3. Manage and refine the online onboarding process for staff, faculty, and student employees, ensuring best practices are followed for timely onboarding and compliance.
  4. Ensure comprehensive background checks are conducted for all new hires, including faculty and student workers, and evaluate vendors for this service to enhance the process.
  5. Generate reports and analyze data for internal purposes and compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  6. Collaborate with the AVP of HR & Administration and other managers to create internal HR training programs and ensure effective orientation for new hires.
  7. Monitor mandatory training programs, improve documentation processes, and ensure timely delivery of required notices to employees.
  8. Work with the Office of the Dean and Payroll to review faculty contracts and ensure accurate payment processing.
  9. Conduct monthly reconciliations of employee benefit contributions to insurance bills.
  10. Partner with various departments to establish best practices for maintaining employee records in a digital format.
  11. Act as the primary contact for employee relations inquiries.
  12. Represent HR on assigned committees.
  13. Plan and coordinate employee engagement events.
  14. Perform additional duties as necessary.

Qualifications

  1. A Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience is preferred.
  2. Certification such as PHR or SHRM-CP is advantageous.
  3. At least five years of experience in HR as a generalist.
  4. Proficient in database management and report generation with strong analytical skills.
  5. Exceptional attention to detail in reviewing contracts and benefits invoices.
  6. Ability to maintain detailed records with a focus on accuracy.
  7. Exhibit discretion and professional judgment in escalating issues.
  8. Strong commitment to teamwork and communication across departments.
  9. Demonstrated initiative and capability to work independently and collaboratively.
  10. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace.
  11. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
