Position Overview:
This role is part of our Nursing Support Incentive Program, which offers a total of $5,000 distributed over a three-year commitment. We are seeking a Nursing Assistant I for our Transplant Acute Care Unit - 5 West, a specialized 15-bed unit focused on the care of patients undergoing abdominal transplant, urology, and plastic surgery procedures. Our dedicated patient care team is committed to delivering advanced, specialized care, performing over 125 kidney, pancreas, and liver transplants annually.

Key Responsibilities:
As a Nursing Assistant I, you will:
  • Provide routine direct and indirect patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse or physician.
  • Assist healthcare providers during examinations and procedures, ensuring the availability of necessary equipment and supplies.
  • Support patients in psychiatric settings by facilitating reality orientation and participating in therapeutic plans.
  • Document and report significant changes in patient conditions to the appropriate healthcare professionals.
  • Guide patients and their families through the admission, orientation, and discharge processes.
  • Administer care as outlined in the care plan, including vital signs monitoring, specimen collection, and personal care activities.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment, restocking supplies and assisting with clerical tasks as needed.
  • Reinforce patient education provided by nursing staff and document patient understanding.

Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.
  • Must be listed as Nursing Assistant I with the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is mandatory.
  • Preferred: Six months of experience as a nursing assistant.
  • Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills in English and basic computer proficiency.

Work Schedule:
This is a full-time position requiring 36 hours per week, with 12-hour rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays.

Compensation and Benefits:
The position offers a competitive hourly wage, along with an extensive benefits package that includes paid time off (PTO) accrued based on hours worked. A weeklong orientation is required, held every two weeks.
