We are a renowned specialty food retailer dedicated to providing our customers with the finest products and exceptional service. Our Cheese Department is a key part of our stores, and we are seeking an experienced and passionate Cheese Department Manager to lead our team.

Job Summary

The Cheese Department Manager will be responsible for overseeing the buying, pricing, merchandising, promotion, and profitability of our Cheese departments. This includes working with our Cheese managers to ensure the highest quality products are displayed and rotated, managing inventory levels and turns, and maintaining excellent retail conditions. The successful candidate will also establish strong relationships with producers, distributors, and wholesalers, and oversee the employee recruitment and development process for both Cheese departments.

Job Responsibilities

  • Department Management: Oversee the buying, pricing, merchandising, promotion, and profitability of our Cheese departments. Work with Cheese managers to ensure the highest quality products are displayed and rotated, and manage inventory levels and turns.
  • Relationship Building: Establish strong relationships with producers, distributors, and wholesalers to ensure the highest quality products are available to our customers.
  • Employee Development: Oversee the employee recruitment and development process for both Cheese departments, including training and development programs.
  • Maintaining Retail Conditions: Maintain excellent retail conditions, including visual merchandising and store appearance.

Requirements

  • Retail Grocery Experience: At least 5 years of experience in retail grocery, with a focus on cheese and specialty foods.
  • Product Merchandising Experience: Experience in product merchandising, including visual merchandising and inventory management.
  • Product Knowledge: Strong knowledge of cheese and specialty foods, including product sourcing and supply chain management.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills, including the ability to work with customers, employees, and vendors.
  • Leadership Skills: Strong leadership skills, including the ability to motivate and develop a team.

Benefits

We offer a competitive salary of $80,000 - $100,000 per year, depending on experience, as well as a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k) plan, and paid time off.
