Safety and Security Specialist

Position Overview:
As a Safety and Security Specialist at CommonSpirit Health, your primary responsibility will be to oversee the safety and protection of our facilities, ensuring a secure environment for staff, patients, and visitors alike.
Your daily tasks will involve actively monitoring the premises through both foot and vehicle patrols.
Your security responsibilities may encompass controlling access points, overseeing surveillance systems, evaluating new security technologies, and safeguarding all individuals against potential threats.
Success in this role requires a calm demeanor and the ability to make informed decisions based on the circumstances at hand. You will also be expected to respond promptly to emergency situations. Previous experience in a security role within a healthcare environment is highly valued.

Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure the safety of staff, patients, and visitors by responding promptly to assistance requests.
- Conduct regular patrols of the facility and grounds, monitor security systems, and deploy officers as necessary.
- Identify and report any suspicious activities or behaviors.
- Document all incidents, accidents, and safety concerns accurately.
- Investigate security incidents and carry out follow-up actions as needed.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED is required.
- A minimum of six months of experience as a security officer in a healthcare setting, or equivalent experience in law enforcement or military service; alternatively, one year of experience as a security officer is acceptable.
- Possession of a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification must be obtained within 90 days of employment.
