About the Position:

The City of Sherwood is looking for a dedicated Maintenance Worker II to support our Parks Division. This full-time role comes with benefits and involves the upkeep of the City’s infrastructure, including parks, recreational fields, public spaces, facilities, and roadways. The successful candidate will also be responsible for the operation, maintenance, and repair of various public works machinery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform cleaning, maintenance, inspection, and repair of sidewalks, pathways, and public right-of-ways, including snow and ice management and tree trimming.
  • Oversee turf maintenance, including mowing, fertilization, irrigation, weed control, and landscape upkeep.
  • Conduct routine maintenance on parks and sports fields, including minor repairs and field marking.
  • Operate and maintain public works equipment, ensuring proper functionality.
  • Manage the tool room and inventory, ensuring tools are safe and in good condition.
  • Foster positive relationships with colleagues and the public while adhering to safety protocols.
  • Assist other team members and participate in training sessions and meetings as required.

Qualifications:
Applicants should possess a high school diploma or equivalent, along with at least one year of relevant experience and knowledge of equipment maintenance and operation.

Licenses and Certifications:
Valid Driver's License, Class B Oregon Commercial Driver's License, CPR/First Aid certification, and Work Zone Traffic Safety certification are required.

Physical Requirements:
This role demands physical stamina, including standing, walking, bending, and lifting materials up to 100 pounds.

Work Environment:
Work will primarily occur outdoors, exposing the employee to various weather conditions and potential hazards. Flexibility for rotating shifts and weekend work may be necessary.
