Annual Salary Range: $125,000 to $145,000

Overview:

Under the guidance of the General Manager, the Venue Operations Manager will oversee the comprehensive management, marketing, and operational functions of the venue, emphasizing revenue enhancement. This role is pivotal in ensuring operational efficiency, maximizing profitability, and delivering outstanding customer experiences through direct involvement or by leading department heads. The Venue Operations Manager will assume the responsibilities of the General Manager in their absence.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Direct and oversee various departmental functions including Marketing, Ticketing, Event Coordination, Financial Management, Operations, and Food & Beverage Services.
  • Support event bookings by engaging with promoters, agents, and industry stakeholders to foster ongoing utilization of the venue for revenue growth, which may involve travel to industry events and conferences.
  • Negotiate contracts and agreements with vendors, promoters, and tenants for essential services and activities at the venue.
  • Lead departmental teams to enhance revenue, control expenses, streamline processes, and identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Implement venue policies and objectives in alignment with management contracts, client goals, and corporate standards.
  • Collaborate with department leaders to establish objectives and milestones; review operational and sales reports, and if necessary, initiate program adjustments and oversee their execution.
  • Contribute to the formulation of long-term strategies and program goals in accordance with management contracts and corporate policies.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant codes, laws, regulations, policies, procedures, and safety protocols.
  • Establish and maintain customer service standards across departments to promote a positive and professional image, encouraging repeat patronage.
  • Assist in drafting the annual budget and capital project budget for future venue enhancements and repairs.
  • Guide each assigned department to meet annual revenue, project, event, and expenditure targets.
  • Conduct post-event evaluations to analyze operational and financial performance.
  • Review and authorize all purchasing, travel, and promotional expenditures for assigned departments.
  • Be prepared to work extended hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, and possess the ability to travel as required.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Supervisory Duties:

Oversee department directors and supervisors. Responsibilities include recruiting, hiring, and training staff in collaboration with Human Resources; planning, assigning, and directing work; scheduling; evaluating performance; rewarding and disciplining staff; and addressing complaints and resolving issues.

Education and Experience:

A Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution and a minimum of seven years of industry experience, including three years in a leadership role. Experience in booking for arenas or stadiums is preferred. Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.

Qualifications:
  • Strong sales and management skills with the ability to identify new revenue opportunities.
  • Experience in client relations, financial management, contract negotiation, procurement processes, and personnel supervision.
  • Participate in the settlement of all events, including concerts and family shows.
  • Make decisions guided by established procedures and policies.
  • Knowledgeable in event booking practices, financial management, ticketing, public relations, marketing, and sales.
  • Plan, coordinate, and manage diverse and complex administrative operations.
  • Recognize and address human resource issues, manage conflicts constructively, and motivate staff while providing guidance on routine and sensitive personnel matters.
  • Respond effectively to crowd management situations during emergencies.
  • Proficient in using personal computers, including Windows, Word, Excel, and other standard office applications.
  • Follow verbal and written instructions and communicate effectively in both formats.
  • Organize and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines, working efficiently under pressure to produce accurate results.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with various stakeholders encountered in the course of employment.
  • Possess a valid driver's license and insurance to operate a vehicle in the United States.
Technical Skills:
  • Proficient in event booking and scheduling software.
  • Strong computer skills, particularly in Excel and Word.
