Position Summary

Under the guidance of the Team Leader, the Assistant Team Leader plays a pivotal role in driving revenue and managing expenses, overseeing staff, scheduling, reporting, inventory management, safety protocols, and delivering outstanding customer service to both employees and patrons.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Guarantee exceptional customer service at all times.
  2. Recruit, train, mentor, supervise, and assess team members in alignment with organizational policies and job descriptions.
  3. Manage store operations within the established budgetary guidelines.
  4. Ensure proper handling and processing of donations, adhering to organizational policies.
  5. Oversee labor and payroll management in compliance with company standards.
  6. Maintain store image, safety, and security in accordance with established protocols.
  7. Order and manage supplies and assets responsibly, following budgetary constraints.
  8. Assist the Team Leader with various responsibilities, including:
  • Cash management and end-of-day reporting
  • Conducting monthly safety inspections
  • Monitoring stock levels
  • Verifying donations
  • Reporting payroll information
  • Documenting incidents and accidents
  • Managing petty cash and expense documentation
  • Placing supply orders
  • Compiling monthly leadership reports
  • Allocating floor space efficiently
  • Recording minutes from team meetings
  • Creating weekly schedules for keyholders and sales staff
  • Ensuring timely and accurate report submissions
  • Submitting maintenance requests for facilities and IT support
  1. Support the Team Leader and Production Manager in achieving production targets.
  2. Ensure compliance with industry standards.
  3. Stay informed about product knowledge, market trends, and competitor pricing.
  4. Execute assigned duties within the framework of organizational principles.
  5. Participate in training and development sessions as required.
  6. Engage in community activities as needed.
  7. Perform additional tasks as directed by the Team Leader.
Required Skills and Qualifications

  3. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  4. Knowledge of product recalls and unsuitable donations.
  5. Experience in maintaining inventory and sales records.
  6. Capability to effectively supervise and develop team members.
Education and Experience:

A high school diploma or equivalent is mandatory. A college degree or five years of retail management experience is preferred. A minimum of five years in retail and three years in a supervisory role is required. Experience working with individuals with disabilities is advantageous.

Physical and Environmental Requirements:
  1. Regularly lift and/or move 20 to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds with assistance.
  2. Visual abilities required include close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  3. Able to bend, reach, and stand for extended periods.
  4. Capable of performing repetitive tasks, such as tagging or hanging items.
Mathematical Skills:

Level 3: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as variances, discounts, interest, proportions, percentages, and area. Basic algebra and geometry skills are necessary.

Computer Proficiency:

Basic knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and Outlook is required.

Language Skills:

Level 3: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and procedure manuals. Ability to write reports and communicate effectively.

Reasoning Skills:

Level 4: Ability to solve practical problems and interpret various instructions in written, oral, or diagram form.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position includes supervisory duties over subordinate supervisors.

Purchasing Authority:

No purchasing authority, except for ordering supplies as approved by the Team Leader.

Special Requirements:
  • Availability to work evenings and weekends.
  • Reliable transportation is necessary.
  • Must be able to close the store at least twice a week.
