Position Overview

The Logistics Coordinator is essential in fostering relationships with both internal and external stakeholders. A comprehensive understanding of operational processes and services is required. This role involves managing communications via calls and emails, providing updates to vendors, suppliers, and carriers, and collaborating closely with Inventory Control department supervisors and leads.

Reporting Structure: Reports to Inventory Control Manager

Compensation: Salary

Salary Range: $55,000.00

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Key Responsibilities:
  • Monitor freight movements and keep all relevant parties informed (both internal and external).
  • Plan and confirm inbound freight within a 24-48 hour timeframe.
  • Effectively communicate freight requirements and updates across various departments and to carrier dispatch.
  • Develop and maintain professional relationships with current and prospective customers and carriers.
  • Assist third-party carriers in scheduling dock appointments for deliveries.
  • Source and organize quotes from new freight carriers and brokers.
  • Facilitate cross-departmental communication between Receiving, Purchasing, and Freight departments to ensure efficient information flow.
  • Audit receiving documentation and ensure process completion.
  • Verify shipped quantities and pricing on Bills of Lading and invoices.
  • Collaborate with Receiving Leads/Supervisors to identify and rectify potential discrepancies during the receiving process.
  • Input received inventory data into the ERP system.
  • Obtain FDA-required documentation for specific items, such as shellfish and vacuum-packed seafood.
  • Monitor product temperature and shipping times for seafood items.
  • Assist in the management and review of products placed on hold.
  • Handle products on hold for quality assessments, FDA compliance, vendor returns, and pricing evaluations.
  • Execute inventory adjustments for refused products and occasional stock level corrections.
  • Track freight costs and accruals through the review of carrier and broker invoices.
  • Serve as a support liaison for the Receiving Supervisor and leads, including light administrative duties.
Qualifications:

Required Education, Training, and Skills:
  • 1-2 years of experience in freight tracking or a related field.
  • Able to prioritize and manage tasks in a dynamic environment.
  • Experience in mapping processes within complex systems.
  • Strong customer service capabilities.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and strong follow-through abilities.
  • Proficient in MS Excel, MS Word, and Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).
