Job Title: Materials Manager

Join Rust-Oleum as a Materials Manager and take on a challenging role that requires strong leadership and organizational skills. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for overseeing the procurement and inventory management of materials and supplies for our chemical reactors, paint making, packaging, and bulk material deliveries.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Direct and coordinate activities of personnel engaged in buying, selling, and distributing materials, components, and supplies.
  • Interview and oversee staff training to ensure a skilled and motivated team.
  • Prepare and process requisitions and purchase orders for supplies and equipment.
  • Develop and implement purchasing instructions, policies, and procedures.
  • Maintain records of goods ordered and received.
  • Analyze market and delivery systems to assess present and future material availability.
  • Resolve vendor or contractor grievances and claims against suppliers.
  • Prepare plant schedule for filling, batch making, and bulk deliveries.
  • Provide year-end data for environmental permits.
  • Manage cycle counts and investigate discrepancies exceeding corporate standards.
  • Supervise and develop materials department staff.
  • Coordinate with corporate and plant personnel to achieve monthly volume requirements.
  • Communicate with supervisors, peers, or subordinates to provide information in written form or in person.
  • Maintain a good record of attendance and punctuality.
  • Learn all manual tasks performed within the department.
  • Perform tasks assigned using specific operating procedures and following department-specific quality control processes and procedures.
  • Treat people with dignity and respect.
  • Conduct all business with integrity.
  • Adhere to Rust-Oleum Corporation Quality principles and participate in all departmental and company-wide Quality activities.
  • Follow all safety procedures and company policies.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in business, chemistry, or supply chain.
  • 5-10 years of management experience in manufacturing or chemical processing environment.
  • Prior SAP/ERP system experience preferred but not required.
  • Prior paint manufacturing experience preferred but not required.
  • Ability to supervise and manage associates.
  • Proven abilities to successfully drive continuous improvement, manage multiple priorities, and multitask.
  • Ability to collaborate well with other peer groups.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong computer skills.
