Syntactic Foam Materials Technician

As a key member of the Globe Composite Solutions team, the Syntactic Foam Materials Technician will be responsible for the mixing and casting of materials to create syntactic foam materials.

This role involves working under the general direction of the Production Manager to ensure the production process runs smoothly and efficiently.

The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work well in a fast-paced environment.

• Key Responsibilities:
• Reads and understands production process instruction sheets and identifies relevant equipment
• Understands safety and procedural issues for mixing processes
• Reads and understands batch cards and identifies chemical components
• Measures and mixes HYTAC and ESS batch needs
• Coordinates material for pre-heating of chemicals
• Weighs out ingredients, pours premixed materials into bowls, and transfers balloons into bowls
• Records batch/lot cards and process information on batch cards
• Performs mixing and vacuum pressure processes following established procedures
• Transfers finished mixtures into transfer tanks and/or molds
• Optimizes positioning of filled molds in ovens and selects/executes proper cure cycles
• Cleans and maintains mix and weighing equipment
• Monitors cure of parts through cycles, recording batch details

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Manufacturing experience preferred
• Ability to lift, push, and pull greater than 50 pounds
• Ability to stand for long periods and walk through a large manufacturing environment
• Constant use of hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls
• Repetitive hand and arm movements
• Occasional bending and twisting
• Frequent communication with others to exchange information
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
• Must be able to wear PPE as necessary (safety glasses, hearing protection, steel toe shoes, etc.)

Work Environment:

• Majority of work is performed in a manufacturing environment with noise levels within safety limits and acceptable lighting and temperature conditions
