Job Overview

The chosen candidate will oversee a variety of civil engineering and site planning responsibilities, which include, but are not limited to, zoning code analysis, spatial infrastructure design, grading plans, roadway design, utility coordination, and erosion management, particularly for telecommunications, renewable energy, and small commercial site development projects.

Key Responsibilities

The successful applicant will be expected to manage projects from initial scoping through to completion, including:

  • Developing spatial layouts for telecommunications, renewable energy, and small commercial facilities in accordance with local zoning regulations.
  • Designing and optimizing facility layouts with a focus on earthwork, drainage, spatial planning, construction feasibility, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Executing design tasks such as roadway profiles, grading, erosion control, and obtaining necessary permits.
  • Collaborating with client representatives, regulatory agency personnel, and other stakeholders to clarify design and permitting requirements.
  • Overseeing project timelines, budgets, and scopes to ensure successful delivery.
  • Coordinating with sub-consultants and internal teams to provide comprehensive solutions for clients.
  • Participating in site meetings with clients to discuss design concepts and solutions.
  • Reviewing and conducting quality assurance on tasks completed by other engineering and technical staff.
  • Mentoring junior engineers and drafters in site development design and drafting practices.
Required Knowledge and Skills
  • Proficiency in computer-aided design software, specifically AutoCAD and AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Experience managing site development projects comprehensively.
  • Expertise in designing all facets of civil-site development, including roadway profiles, grading, stormwater management, utilities, and infrastructure layout.
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Word.
  • Experience in surveying, including both field and office operations, is advantageous.
Educational Background

A Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or a related field from an ABET-accredited institution is required, or an Associate's Degree in a technical discipline with relevant experience.

Experience Requirements

For candidates with a Bachelor’s degree, a minimum of four to eight years of relevant design experience is required; for those with an Associate’s degree, eight to twelve years of experience is necessary. A Professional Engineer license is highly preferred.

Travel Requirements

Some travel, approximately 10%, may be necessary.
