Position Overview

The chosen candidate will oversee a variety of civil engineering and site planning initiatives, focusing on tasks such as zoning code analysis, spatial infrastructure design, grading strategies, roadway layouts, utility coordination, and erosion management. This role is particularly relevant to projects in telecommunications, renewable energy, and small-scale commercial developments.

Key Responsibilities

The selected individual will be responsible for guiding projects from initial scoping through to completion, which includes:

  • Developing spatial layouts for telecommunications, renewable energy, and commercial facilities in accordance with local zoning regulations.
  • Designing and refining project elements with a focus on earthwork, drainage, spatial efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Executing design tasks related to roadway profiles, grading, erosion control, and necessary permitting.
  • Collaborating with clients, regulatory agencies, and other stakeholders to clarify design and permitting requirements.
  • Managing project timelines, budgets, and scopes to ensure successful delivery.
  • Coordinating with sub-consultants and internal teams to provide comprehensive solutions for clients.
  • Participating in site meetings to discuss design concepts and solutions with clients.
  • Reviewing and ensuring quality control of tasks performed by engineering and technical staff.
  • Mentoring junior engineers and drafters in site development design and drafting methodologies.
Required Skills and Knowledge
  • Proficiency in drafting software, specifically AutoCAD and AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing site development projects comprehensively.
  • Expertise in all facets of civil-site development design, including roadway layouts, grading, stormwater management, utilities, and infrastructure planning.
  • Strong command of Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Word.
  • Experience in surveying, including both field and office operations, is advantageous.
Educational Background

A Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or a related discipline from an ABET-accredited institution is required, or an Associate's Degree in a technical field with relevant experience.

Experience Requirements

For candidates with a Bachelor’s degree, a minimum of four to eight years of relevant design experience is required; for those with an Associate’s degree, eight to twelve years of experience is necessary. A Professional Engineer license is highly preferred.

Travel Requirements

Occasional travel, estimated at around 10%, may be necessary.
