Position Overview:
HealthPartners is seeking a Senior Analyst for Revenue Optimization.

This role involves collaborating with both internal and external stakeholders to identify significant opportunities and assist in the implementation of effective revenue cycle strategies. The analyst will also enhance revenue capture processes and leverage innovative thinking alongside business acumen to develop solutions, improve efficiencies, streamline departmental processes, and manage denial strategies.

The Senior Analyst for Revenue Optimization is crucial in enhancing financial outcomes by delivering data, insights, options, and solutions for identified revenue capture or denial management challenges.

Potential solutions may encompass process improvements and/or technological advancements that could influence various phases of the revenue cycle.

This position acts as a bridge between the revenue cycle and diverse business sectors, leading to measurable enhancements in processes or financial performance.

The analyst is an integral member of the Revenue Cycle Team, functioning as a project manager and leader capable of collaborating with a broad spectrum of internal and external stakeholders to translate their business requirements into actionable insights.


Required Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business, Finance, Health Care Management, Management Information Systems, or a related field. Four years of relevant work experience may substitute for a degree.

3+ years of experience as a Financial Systems Analyst, Financial Analyst, or Business Analyst in support of a healthcare management system or similar financial support system.

Familiarity with healthcare revenue cycle operations and payer reimbursement terminology. Understanding of Revenue Cycle principles and healthcare reimbursement processes, including denials from various payers. Experience with Epic applications (Resolute Hospital and/or Professional Billing) and proficiency in Epic reporting tools such as Cubes, Reporting Workbench reports, Dashboards, and other reporting mechanisms. Ability to extract and manipulate data from various sources, including flat files, Excel files, and Epic reporting tools. Experience in quantifying data and utilizing it to prioritize operational strategies. Ability to convert business needs into revenue enhancement solutions. Exceptional analytical skills and a diligent approach to extensive research.

Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to convey the pros and cons of potential solutions, recommendations, and associated risks clearly and accurately.

Ability to communicate revenue improvement opportunities effectively. Capacity to engage with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders. Self-directed with strong prioritization skills. Results-oriented.

Preferred Qualifications:

Five or more years of experience as a Financial Systems Analyst, Financial Analyst, or Business Analyst supporting a healthcare management system or similar financial support system.

Experience with relational databases and cross-relational database design. Familiarity with Clarity data extraction and manipulation. Knowledge of EDI claims and EDI remittance data. Understanding of payer requirements for revenue capture. Epic application experience (ADT/Prelude) and Epic Systems Certification.

Accountabilities:

Prepare revenue cycle-specific reports utilizing multiple data sources to analyze revenue cycle data, identify trends, and enhance workflow opportunities.

Analyze and interpret information from revenue cycle-specific reports to provide leadership with data for operational decision-making aimed at improving efficiency and achieving financial objectives.

Conduct data analysis to identify trends and formulate recommendations to assist in the development of strategic plans for resolving outstanding claims and denials.

Provide analytical support for monthly operational revenue cycle metric reports. Contribute to denial management strategies by recommending and prioritizing approaches to reduce claim denials and enhance revenue. Support denial management tools and communicate relevant information to management across the organization. Engage in forums and communication platforms to update management on the progress of change implementation and denial reduction initiatives. Utilize various information systems to investigate and quantify the underlying reasons for denials.

Develop ad hoc reports to aid in revenue cycle operations decision-making and investigate topics such as denial management analysis.

Perform additional duties as assigned by revenue cycle directors and/or managers.
