About the Role

New Story Schools is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Special Education Aide to join our team. As a Special Education Aide, you will play a vital role in supporting students with autism or emotional/behavioral disorders in achieving their academic and behavioral goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Apply Behavioral Science Principles: Assist in the education and management of students by applying the principles of behavioral science.
  • Run and Assist Data-Driven Practice: Assist in running and implementing data-driven practices to support student learning and behavior.
  • Assist with Precision Teaching Activities: Assist with Precision Teaching activities to support student learning and behavior.
  • Assist with Data Recording: Assist with recording and analyzing data to inform instruction and support student learning and behavior.
  • Use Data to Make Decisions: Use data to inform instruction and make decisions that support student learning and behavior.
  • Assist with Explicit Instruction: Assist with explicit instruction to support student learning and behavior.
  • Apply Mathetics to Assist Daily Instruction: Apply Mathetics to assist with daily instruction and support student learning and behavior.
  • Assist with Direct Instruction Programs and Techniques: Assist with direct instruction programs and techniques to support student learning and behavior.
  • Assist with Habit Training Duties: Assist with habit training duties to support student learning and behavior.
  • Assist with the Management of Students: Assist with the management of students to support their learning and behavior.
  • Implement Principles of Behavioral Science: Implement principles of behavioral science to effectively manage student behavior.
  • Adhere to Classroom Management Tiers: Adhere to the classroom management tier assigned to each student.
  • Correctly and Appropriately Use Crisis Intervention Programs: Correctly and appropriately use prescribed crisis intervention programs to support student learning and behavior.
  • Supervise and Execute School Activities: Supervise and execute school activities inside and outside the classroom to support student learning and behavior.
  • Maintain a Safe and Effective Classroom Environment: Assist in maintaining a safe and effective classroom environment to support student learning and behavior.
  • Implement Data-Based Decision Making: Implement data-based decision making to support student learning and behavior.
  • Use Formal Academic and Behavior Data: Use formal academic and behavior data to inform instruction and support student learning and behavior.
Physical and Sensory Requirements
  • Perform Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Techniques: Possess the ability to perform non-violent crisis intervention techniques, including verbal and physical redirection and guidance of potentially physically aggressive students during crisis situations.
  • React Quickly and Be Sufficiently Mobile: Possess the ability to react quickly and be sufficiently mobile to redirect students that could be injurious to themselves or others.
  • Physically Assist with Evacuating Students: Possess the ability to physically assist with evacuating students during emergency situations.
  • Earn and Maintain Crisis Management Certifications: Earn and maintain full certification(s) in assigned crisis management programs.
