About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Aerospace Engineer to join our team at Blue Origin, working on the New Shepard program. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing and developing flight control and actuated systems for our reusable launch vehicle.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop flight control and actuated systems for the New Shepard reusable launch vehicle
  • Participate in the entire design cycle, including system architecture, requirements derivation, conceptual and detailed design, system performance modeling, structural analysis, manufacturing and integration support, development testing, and qualification
  • Identify and implement design changes to improve system reliability and reduce operational cost
  • Participate in verification audits of existing components and subsystems, and component and subsystem level testing
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful integration and testing of systems
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in aerospace development or similar industries
  • Demonstrated experience in aerospace or related industry in two or more of the following areas: servo controlled hydraulic actuation, electro-mechanical actuation, mechanisms to deploy, lock, position, or similar application for high-reliability systems, common aerospace structural materials and surface treatments, high-pressure fluid fittings, static seals, and dynamic actuator seals, hydraulic and fluid systems modeling and analysis, aerospace systems engineering principles and processes including requirements derivation, and verification planning and execution
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD programs such as NX, CATIA, SolidWorks, Creo, Pro/E, etc.
  • Experience in analysis including hand calculations and Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
  • Experience with GD&T analysis (ASME Y14.5)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion
Preferred Qualifications
  • 4 years of experience in aerospace development or similar industries
  • M.S. degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
  • Proficiency with Creo, Windchill, and Ansys
  • Test instrumentation and data acquisition experience
  • Hands-on experience with machining, building, and maintaining pressurized or mechanical systems
  • Experience with launch vehicle, aircraft, or spacecraft manufacturing and integration
