Senior Vice President, Risk and Control Management for Technology Operations

Position Overview:

This leadership role is pivotal in overseeing the first line of defense in risk management for Platform and Functional Technology teams, ensuring alignment with the organization's Risk Management Framework and strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish and enhance a risk management framework and regular review processes to boost control effectiveness within the Platform and Functional Technology sectors.
  • Conduct comprehensive risk assessments to identify, analyze, and prioritize risk mitigation strategies.
  • Stay abreast of business strategies and industry developments to proactively manage emerging risks, including those associated with technological advancements.
  • Collaborate with management to formulate risk mitigation strategies and provide insights on control improvements.
  • Identify critical monitoring areas and escalate findings to relevant stakeholders.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to integrate risk management into the design and deployment of new technologies and processes.
  • Act as a subject matter expert in operational risk management for first line of defense teams.
  • Analyze trends and opportunities for process enhancements, ensuring continuous improvement in controls.
  • Engage with process owners to evaluate controls and identify documentation gaps.
  • Prepare and deliver updates to senior leadership regarding risk management initiatives.
  • Provide feedback and collaborate with Technology and Operations teams on governance documents to support risk management activities.
  • Ensure compliance with enterprise standards for risk management and governance.
  • Lead special projects focused on proactive risk management and compliance with established standards.
  • Partner with executives to prepare for regulatory assessments and address findings.
  • Promote a culture of risk awareness and enhance the effectiveness of risk management programs.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 10 years in IT, IT Risk, Operational Risk, Audit, or Compliance, or equivalent experience without a degree.
  • Proven experience with regulatory compliance frameworks.
  • Familiarity with industry risk management frameworks.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide consultancy and assurance services in IT governance.
  • Willingness to travel as necessary.

Desired Skills:

  • Technical expertise in Agile Software Development and IT risk management.
  • Relevant certifications such as CISA, CISSP, CRISC, or CISM are advantageous.
  • Experience in compliance with consumer financial protection regulations.
  • Strong problem-solving capabilities and collaborative skills.
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills, particularly with senior executives.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and influence stakeholders effectively.
