We are seeking a qualified candidate for our Veterinary Technician role

CityVet - White Rock is in search of Veterinary Technicians. Candidates with experience as Veterinary Technician Assistants (minimum of 1 year) will also be considered.

Compensation will be determined based on qualifications and experience.

Key Responsibilities

The Veterinary Technician (VT) plays a crucial role in delivering exceptional patient care and enhancing operational efficiency. This position supports the Veterinarian by managing technical tasks and administrative duties, allowing for improved service delivery to clients and their pets. The Veterinary Technician is instrumental in facilitating communication between the surgical team and the front office, ensuring that client needs are met effectively.

Essential Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum age of 18 at the time of employment
  • At least 1 year of experience in the veterinary field
  • Ability to safely and effectively restrain animals
  • Familiarity with veterinary medical terminology and medications
  • Capability to lift up to 50 lbs to waist height
  • Frequent standing, bending, walking, lifting, carrying, and reaching
  • Strong organizational abilities
  • Excellent communication and listening skills
  • Self-motivated and a team player

A Typical Day Includes:

  • Assisting Veterinarians with patient preparation for surgical procedures (administering anesthesia, taking x-rays, collecting lab specimens), monitoring recovery, and restraining animals during examinations
  • Collecting Samples - obtaining stool, blood, and other specimens for laboratory analysis
  • Conducting Tests - performing tests on collected samples and assisting in interpreting results
  • Administering Medications - providing accurate dosages of prescribed medications, anesthesia, vaccines, or other treatments as directed by the Veterinarian
  • Client Interaction - gathering medical history from clients and offering guidance on post-care for their pets
  • Supporting the Client Service Specialist team as needed
