Responsibilities

  • Conduct scheduled preventive maintenance or safety assessments on equipment that requires a general inspection with minimal patient risk.
  • Execute repairs on low-risk, single-component, multiunit medical devices, which are typically considered general patient care equipment that poses little danger to patients, with backup equipment available if necessary.
  • Undergo training on various equipment to fulfill service responsibilities effectively.
  • Carry out incoming inspections, establish records, and develop preventive maintenance schedules for new equipment, focusing on routine inspections with low patient risk that are generally repetitive.
  • Manage a parts inventory by ordering replacement components as they are utilized or needed for repairs.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; basic electronics training from a junior college, military, or trade school is required. Factory training may be accepted. Graduation from a BMET program that includes medical equipment training, medical terminology, and some internship experience in a hospital setting is preferred.
