Data Center Technician

Job Summary

The Data Center Technician will be responsible for the operations and maintenance of data center facilities, ensuring the smooth operation of critical infrastructure systems and IT systems. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of data center engineering and technology operations, as well as excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support all data center engineering and technology operations, including facility and grounds maintenance
  • Take daily direction from client engineering leadership on-site
  • Perform material movement, including shipping/receiving and inventory management
  • Conduct detailed physical inventory tracking and staging
  • Read and understand cabling maps
  • Perform data center pre-cabling to industry standards
  • Lift over 50lbs and work at different heights, in confined spaces, and on different surfaces
  • Use mobile application technology and client-based applications for work order tracking, materials ordering/tracking, scheduling, and video conferencing
  • Manage or navigate various client-based applications, including work order tracking, materials ordering/tracking, scheduling, and video conferencing
  • Use Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams, and gain proficiency in workplace IT systems for reporting, timecards, expense entry, and project tasks
Requirements
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment, up to 40lbs
  • Ability to climb ladders and multiple flights of stairs to access elevated equipment
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time in various work environments
  • Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, and reach for equipment-related tasks
  • Basic physical fitness to respond quickly to emergency situations and navigate areas quickly
  • Good hand-eye coordination and dexterity for working with small components and connectors
  • Clear vision, with or without correction, to perform tasks requiring attention to detail and precision while wearing safety glasses
  • Ability to differentiate between color-coded warning signs, labels, and cables
  • Ability to work in environments with a wide range of temperatures inside a facility
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions, including extreme temperatures, rain, or snow
  • Capability to work in environments with elevated noise levels while wearing hearing protection
  • Valid driver's license for work-related travel, as required
