Position Summary
This role is situated within the Department of Health (DOH), which is committed to promoting health, wellness, and equity throughout the district. Key Responsibilities
The incumbent will serve as a senior manager, responsible for strategic planning, policy formulation, program development, and evaluation across the Department. This role includes providing medical expertise and leadership to support the vision and objectives of DC Health. Key responsibilities include:
- Offering medical consultation for health promotion, quality of care, and preventive services initiatives.
- Establishing program goals and developing operational plans for various projects.
- Analyzing operational challenges and implementing effective solutions.
- Evaluating service effectiveness and collaborating with various stakeholders to enhance service delivery.
- Leading and mentoring a diverse team of professionals.
- Staying informed about public health trends and advising on proactive measures to address potential health issues.
The incumbent will also coordinate and assess professional and administrative management activities to ensure the efficient operation of clinical services. They will provide guidance to mitigate potential challenges affecting program operations and will represent the Department in various professional settings.
Qualifications and Requirements
Required Qualifications: Candidates must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level in the relevant field. This experience should provide the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of the position effectively.
Preferred Qualifications: Candidates with certification from the American Board of Medical Specialties or a comparable board, along with a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from an accredited institution, are highly preferred. A Master's degree in Public Health is also advantageous.
Licenses and Certifications: The incumbent must hold a current, unrestricted license to practice medicine in the District of Columbia.
Work Environment: The role requires the ability to perform duties in various settings, primarily within an office environment.
Additional Information: Candidates must be authorized to work for any employer and should be aware that this position is not part of a collective bargaining unit. The position is designated as Security Sensitive, requiring background checks and other assessments.
