Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Biomedical Equipment Technician to join our team at Jackson North Medical Center. As a Biomedical Equipment Technician, you will be responsible for the repair and preventive maintenance of electronic, electromechanical, pneumatic, and mechanical medical equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Test, repair, calibrate, and perform preventive maintenance procedures on complex medical equipment.
  • Troubleshoot electronic circuits to the component level.
  • Read and interpret schematic diagrams, service manuals, and wiring sketches.
  • Use a wide variety of test instruments in performing trouble shooting and repair procedures.
  • Apply knowledge of basic hand tools and effectively use those tools.
  • Recognize occupational hazards and observe safety precautions.
  • Effectively use metal turning lathe, drill press, grinders, and other general machine tools and associated hand tools.
  • Accurately document all aspects of work performed and maintain equipment records.
  • Demonstrate behaviors of service excellence and CARE values (Compassion, Accountability, Respect, and Expertise).
Requirements
  • Generally requires 0 to 3 years of related experience.
  • High School diploma is required.
  • Ability to analyze, organize, and prioritize work accurately while meeting multiple deadlines.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.
  • Ability to handle difficult and stressful situations with critical thinking and professional composure.
  • Ability to understand and follow instructions.
  • Knowledge and skill in use of job appropriate technology and software applications.
  • Valid license or certification is required as needed, based on the job or specialty.
Working Conditions

The job functions require extended walking or standing. Must be able to climb stairs/ladder, stoop, bend, crawl, and perform repetitive motions as needed. Must be able to carry objects weighing 21 to 50 pounds. Must be able to lift, push, or pull objects weighing 51 to 100 pounds with the use of appropriate devices.

Function requires visual acuity to perform job-related activities such as operating machines or motor vehicles and performing mechanical or skilled trades tasks of a repetitive and non-repetitive nature.
