Biomedical Technician 2 Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Biomedical Technician 2 to join our team at The University of Miami. As a Biomedical Technician 2, you will be responsible for performing a variety of routine tasks, including the installation, maintenance, calibration, and repair of biomedical equipment with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee recall and safety alert programs for medical devices, including medical device hazard investigations, to ensure compliance with patient safety goals and applicable requirements.
  • Prioritize workload effectively and complete all work assignments in a timely manner.
  • Maintain accurate medical equipment parts and supplies necessary for the servicing of medical equipment.
  • Conduct cross-training in the techniques of testing, calibrating, operating, and troubleshooting biomedical systems, for less experienced technicians.
  • Report and document all medical equipment operation errors and safety issues.
  • Maintain medical equipment technical library and make updates when services provided by outside vendors to ensure quality and scope of services have been met.
  • Inspect incoming equipment for compliance with codes, standards, and manufacturer specifications.
Requirements:
  • Associate degree in a relevant field.
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Knowledge, skills, and attitudes:
    • Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail.
    • Ability to analyze, organize, and prioritize work under pressure while meeting deadlines.
    • Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion.
    • Ability to work evenings, nights, and weekends as necessary.
    • Commitment to the University's core values.
    • Ability to work independently and/or in a collaborative environment.
