Patient Access Representative

Stamford Health is seeking a highly skilled Patient Access Representative to join our team. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for ensuring the timely and accurate compilation of patient socio-demographic and financial/insurance data.
Responsibilities:- Accurately register, pre-register, and post-register patients within established departmental guidelines.
- Schedule appointments required for laboratory testing.
- Facilitate patients' intake/transition to the health system by providing excellent customer service skills and serving as an advocate for the patient.
- Educate patients regarding their rights, advance directives, system services, and other patient services.
- Provide timely and accurate information regarding patient data/status to other health system departments, physicians, physician office staff, and other related entities.
- Ensure patient flow through the registration process or phone intake process is professional, patient-friendly, and within department-established time standards.
- Collaborate and communicate efficiently with interoffice and intraoffice personnel.
- Maintain up-to-date access and information on registration-associated programs, tasks, billing, and requirements.
- High School Diploma or GED, required.
- Two years of college or two years prior equivalent experience in a healthcare setting, preferred.
- Knowledge of health insurance terminology, policies, and eligibility, required.
- Knowledge of clinical terms, preferred.
- Computer knowledge and minimum typing requirements of 50 wpm.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, communication skills, and ability to work with patients, their family, and the general public.
