Job Summary

The Utah State University Nursing Department is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented individual to serve as a Staff Assistant II. This role will provide critical support to the nursing department, ensuring the smooth operation of daily office activities and maintaining a positive, welcoming, and productive environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide exceptional customer service to faculty, students, and departmental visitors, both in person and via phone.
  • Manage the department office, ensuring a welcoming and professional atmosphere, and maintaining the orderly functioning of the office.
  • Perform various administrative tasks, including filing, appointment scheduling, message taking and relaying, and providing information and follow-up.
  • Maintain confidentiality and work collaboratively with staff and faculty on departmental activities, including routine projects and special events.
  • Manage time effectively and work independently, with high-quality oral and writing skills, including editing for content, grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
  • Prepare, gather, and maintain records for program functions, including student applications, faculty hiring, and projects.
  • Assist with other administrative tasks and general duties as needed.

Requirements

  • Two years of experience in an office setting or an associate degree/vocational training is required.
  • Knowledge of USU's Banner system is preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint), page layout or design programs, video editing, mail merge, webpage maintenance, and databases.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a timely, effective, and detail-oriented manner.
  • Effective organization and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work both independently and as a member of a team.
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality and use discretion.
  • Good understanding of the English language.
  • Excellent proofreading, communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to maintain a positive, customer-service friendly attitude.

Benefits

  • Minimum salary of $32,100, commensurate with experience, plus excellent benefits.

Work Environment

  • Employees work indoors and are protected from weather and/or contaminants, but not necessarily occasional temperature changes.
  • The employee is regularly required to sit and often uses repetitive hand motions.
