The Center for Nanoscale Materials (CNM) at Argonne National Laboratory is seeking a dedicated Research Scientist to join our team focusing on advanced imaging techniques for materials characterization. This role involves the development and implementation of innovative computer vision methodologies and software, aimed at enhancing the analysis of cutting-edge microscopy data, including but not limited to electron microscopy and scanning tunneling microscopy. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with experts in microscopy, theoretical modeling, and computational sciences.

Position Overview:

Qualifications:
  • A PhD in Computational Physics, Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline, obtained within the last three years or expected soon;
  • Strong analytical and communication skills;
  • Ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment;
  • Proficiency in software programming is essential;

Preferred Expertise:
  • Experience in the simulation and analysis of materials microscopy data;
  • Familiarity with machine learning and computer vision techniques;
  • Capability in developing and executing algorithms and software;
  • Knowledge of high-performance and parallel computing.
