Senior Accountant – Brentwood Industries

We are seeking a qualified Senior Accountant to join our finance team.

Work Schedule: 8 am – 5 pm, Monday through Friday.

The Senior Accountant is responsible for executing various accounting functions within the general ledger team. This role may involve additional related tasks to support the organization's ongoing requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Prepare reconciliations for balance sheet accounts and investigate discrepancies.
2. Ensure accurate accounting and valuation of inventory in line with company policies and U.S. GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
3. Support the monthly closing process, including journal entries and variance analysis.
4. Calculate and monitor inventory reserves and conduct analysis.
5. Assist in the preparation of monthly and annual financial reports.
6. Contribute to the annual budgeting process, ad-hoc reporting, analysis, and special projects as needed.
7. Ensure the accuracy of financial data in compliance with company policies and U.S. GAAP.
8. Aid in the preparation of documentation for external audits.
9. Collaborate with the Accounting Manager to resolve complex accounting issues as they arise.
10. Maintain comprehensive written policies and procedures for all tasks within the Senior Accountant's scope.
11. Demonstrate the ability to work independently and communicate effectively with individuals outside the finance department.
12. Participate in process improvement initiatives by identifying risk areas and suggesting enhancements.
13. Provide backup for various cross-trained responsibilities within the finance team.
14. Utilize ERP systems, Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, and Outlook), and other relevant software.

Essential Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in Accounting or Finance; three to five years of relevant experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Proficient in reading and interpreting documents such as safety guidelines, operational instructions, and procedural manuals. Capable of writing routine reports and correspondence.
• Effective communication skills for addressing groups of customers or employees.
• Strong mathematical skills, including the ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical scenarios.
• Proficient in problem-solving, data collection, and establishing facts to draw valid conclusions.
• Ability to interpret complex technical instructions in various forms and manage multiple variables.
• Experience with ERP-based accounting systems is required.
