Nursing Services Manager

The Deputy Director of Nursing (DDON) is responsible for executing the tasks delegated by the Director of Nursing (DON) in overseeing nursing operations and implementing resident care initiatives. In the absence of the DON due to vacation or extended illness, the DDON assumes the duties of the DON.
Key Responsibilities:- Administrative Oversight
- Assisting in the supervision and management of the Nursing Division
- Filling in as a floor nurse during staffing shortages to reduce excessive overtime
- Identifying and resolving nursing service challenges
- Assisting with procurement of supplies and equipment
- Collaborating with other departments to ensure seamless resident care delivery
- Providing guidance on resident care to the Director of Nursing and Administrator
- Directly overseeing the implementation of resident care through daily assessments
- Reviewing resident documentation to ensure adherence to physician directives and recommendations
- Ensuring thoroughness of nursing department documentation
- Assisting in the orientation and training of new staff
- Supervising nursing personnel including charge nurses, staff nurses, and Certified Nursing Assistants
- Monitoring resident care delivery by charge nurses and staff
- Assisting in evaluations and updating individual Care Plans
- Participating in care plan discussions
- Regularly reviewing nursing department documentation
- Documenting in official records as necessary
- Communication Skills:
- Engaging with residents and families with sensitivity
- Conveying essential information to the team
- Contributing positively in meetings and Resident Care Conferences
- Exhibiting positivity and collaboration in communication
- Utilizing appropriate body language
- Practicing active listening and accurately recording observations
- Promoting the nursing department's philosophy
- Keeping up-to-date with nursing practices
- Ensuring compliance with policies and procedures
- Being punctual and accountable for personal practice standards
- Adhering to facility policies
- Respecting residents' rights and confidentiality
- Implementing cost-effective strategies
- Supporting team objectives and productivity
- Change Management:
- Proposing and endorsing constructive changes
- Adapting to changes with maturity
- Legal working age
- Ability to adhere to written instructions
- Effective communication in English with residents and colleagues
- Tactful interaction with diverse individuals
- Willingness to work additional hours as needed
- Comprehensive knowledge of state and federal regulations in long-term care
- Current valid state nursing license
- Compliance with federally mandated vaccinations
