Position Summary:
The Educator for Students with Hearing Impairments will deliver tailored instructional support to learners identified as deaf or hard-of-hearing. The primary goal is to facilitate a high-quality educational experience that aligns with both federal and state regulations, as well as effective teaching methodologies.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
  • Experience working with students who have hearing loss, potentially gained through university training.
  • A valid Texas teaching certification as a specialist in deaf/hard-of-hearing education or as an educator for students with auditory challenges.

Preferred Skills:

  • Understanding of the distinct communication requirements of students with hearing impairments.
  • Familiarity with various types of hearing loss, their communication needs, and the adaptive technologies utilized by these students.
  • Proficiency in sign language and the capability to teach students to communicate effectively using sign language.
  • Knowledge of curriculum development and instructional strategies across all grade levels.
  • Experience in participating in the ARD (Admission, Review, and Dismissal) process.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with classroom teachers to ensure that students with auditory impairments can engage fully in educational activities with appropriate accommodations.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
