Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) to support students with visual disabilities. This role is essential in enhancing the educational experience of students who require specialized instruction and resources.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and execute Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) that cater to the specific needs of students with visual impairments.
  • Deliver direct instruction in critical areas such as braille literacy, orientation and mobility, and assistive technology.
  • Work collaboratively with general education instructors, support personnel, and families to ensure the holistic success of students.
  • Conduct thorough assessments to monitor students' visual capabilities and academic progress.
  • Employ a range of teaching strategies and adaptive materials to enhance student engagement and learning outcomes.
  • Stay informed about the latest best practices, research, and technological advancements in the field of visual impairment education.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Education or a related discipline; a Master's degree is preferred.
  • Possession of a valid state teaching certification in Visual Impairment or eligibility for reciprocity.
  • Prior experience working with students who are blind or visually impaired is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with braille, tactile graphics, and assistive technology is essential.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving abilities.
