We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) to provide exceptional educational support for students with visual impairments. This role presents a unique opportunity to make a significant difference in the lives of students, fostering their independence and growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and execute Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) that cater to the specific needs of students with visual impairments.
- Deliver direct instruction in essential areas such as braille literacy, orientation and mobility, and assistive technology.
- Work collaboratively with general education teachers, support staff, and families to ensure both academic and social success for students.
- Conduct thorough assessments to monitor students' visual functioning and educational development.
- Employ a diverse range of instructional strategies and adaptive materials to enhance student engagement and achievement.
- Stay informed about the latest best practices, research, and technological advancements in the field of visual impairment education.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Education or a related discipline; a Master's degree is preferred.
- Possession of a valid state teaching certification in Visual Impairment or the ability to obtain reciprocity.
- Prior experience working with students who are blind or visually impaired is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with braille, tactile graphics, and assistive technology is essential.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving abilities.
