As a Logistics Coordinator, you will play a crucial role in managing the logistics of grain transportation, gaining practical experience and support while fostering relationships with both internal and external partners.

Key Responsibilities

This role encompasses a variety of logistics coordination tasks for the transportation of grain and specialty commodities through multiple channels, including rail, barge, truck, and vessel. The following responsibilities are indicative of the role:
  • Coordinate and track transportation modes such as barges, trucks, and vessels to ensure timely deliveries.
  • Oversee barge operations, including application processing, outbound management, and quality claims.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders regarding transportation conditions and logistics, including the merchandising team and external agents.
  • Collaborate with the accounting department to ensure accurate billing and manage overdue accounts.
  • Assist in monitoring grain movements and vendor compliance with insurance requirements.
  • Engage in vendor management, including prospecting and approving new trucking companies.
  • Administer contracts and prepare various reports related to logistics performance.
  • Verify invoices and ensure compliance with contract specifications.
  • Analyze data for reporting purposes and assist with other operational tasks as needed.
Qualifications

Education:
Required - Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.

Experience:
Required - Minimum of 3 years in a related field.

Skills and Abilities:
  • Understanding of industry trends and logistics operations.
  • Basic accounting knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to engage with various stakeholders.
  • Effective time management and organizational capabilities.
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Willingness to work extended hours as necessary.
Physical and Environmental Requirements

This position primarily involves sedentary work, with occasional lifting of light objects. The work environment is typically an office setting with moderate noise levels.
