The Caltrans Electrician I is a critical role that requires a skilled and detail-oriented individual to maintain and repair electrical assets and infrastructure. As a key member of the Caltrans team, you will work under the direction of a Caltrans Electrical Supervisor and Electrician II to ensure the safe and efficient operation of electrical systems.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct safety inspections of electrical construction projects to identify defects and installation errors
- Develop and implement punch lists to ensure completion of projects
- Work with Caltrans Standard Plans and Electrical Asset Inventory System to manage electrical assets
- Collaborate with PG&E to coordinate service connections and utility billing
- Perform minor repair and adjustment of electrical and electronic devices
- Review agreements with Cities and Counties and perform lead work as required
- Operate light trucks, vans, and other automotive vehicles
- Work independently to perform duties assigned to this class
- Valid California Driver's License (CDL) required
- Pass a drug screening prior to hire
- Class C driver's license, Class A or B highly desirable
The Caltrans Electrician I may work under various climates and conditions, including inclement weather, noise, and heights up to 550 feet above pavement or water. The incumbent must be willing to work odd hours, weekends, and be available for trouble call-outs.
