Job Overview

The Caltrans Maintenance Manager I is accountable for evaluating the requirements and executing service agreements. This role may entail supervising the Contract Manager, who is tasked with the planning, development, execution, and oversight of State service contracts. The position involves maintaining a system for tracking financial commitments and expenditures, as well as facilitating significant procurement processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Research and compile reports as an intermediate user of various databases.
  • Manage coordination efforts for the Region's Integrated Maintenance Management System (IMMS).
  • Request and provide expenditure reports, oversee physical inventory management, and monitor damage claims.
  • Act as a backup for the review and approval of staff time entries.
  • Ensure effective planning, coordination, and operation of maintenance facilities.
  • Communicate with management and coordinate repair operations with engineering personnel.
  • Oversee the management and service of telecommunication devices, including the purchase and installation of mobile communication equipment.
  • Coordinate radio repairs and serve as the liaison for servicing communication systems.
  • Manage the Cal-Sense Irrigation Program, developing maintenance plans to ensure operational efficiency.
  • Provide management with detailed reports and oversee the maintenance program's inventory reconciliation.

Eligibility Requirements

Eligibility for this position may be determined by your performance on the Caltrans Maintenance Manager I examination. Candidates must be on the state examination list to qualify for these roles.

  • The SOQ must be one page, typed, and must address specific leadership criteria.
