Job Description and Duties

As a Caltrans Maintenance Manager I, you will be responsible for overseeing the maintenance and upkeep of transportation infrastructure, including roads, bridges, and other public works projects. This role requires strong leadership and management skills, as well as the ability to work effectively with various stakeholders, including contractors, engineers, and other government agencies.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assess and implement service contracts for transportation infrastructure maintenance
  • Provide oversight and guidance to Contract Managers responsible for planning, creating, implementing, and monitoring State service contracts
  • Maintain tracking mechanisms for encumbrances and expenditures, and create and assist with processing major purchases
  • Research and compile reports as an intermediate-level user of AMS, IMMS, and other databases
  • Manage Region IMMS coordination, requesting and/or providing IMMS expenditure reports, physical inventory management, damage claims, and monitoring time and expense entries
  • Act as backup for reviewing and approving staff time for the Sunrise Maintenance Region
  • Effectively plan, coordinate, care, and operate field maintenance facilities, communicating with Management and coordinating facility repair operations with the District Maintenance Facilities Engineer
  • Oversee the purchase and installation/removal contract for vehicle cell phone cradles and mobile radios, coordinating radio repairs with the Office of Emergency Services (OES) and serving as the Region Liaison for servicing mountaintop repeaters and future conversions of the radio system
  • Work closely with the District communications center and serve as the single focal point for managing the radio and telecommunications devices
  • Manage the Cal-Sense Irrigation Program, developing a repair and maintenance plan to keep the program in good operational condition, and oversee and coordinate future conservation programs
  • Provide reports to Management and manage the Maintenance program expendable property inventory reconciliation and inspections
Requirements:
  • Class C driver's license required
  • Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) required; failure to submit a SOQ will disqualify candidates from the hiring process
  • Applicants must include a SOQ for this recruitment, which must be no more than one page, typed, using size 12 Century Gothic font, and include their name at the top
