Position Overview

The Water Production Operator II plays a crucial role in the effective management and upkeep of the county's water production infrastructure and filtration facility. This role necessitates a thorough comprehension of water treatment methodologies, adherence to state and federal guidelines, and the capability to oversee intricate operations around the clock.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervises the daily functions of the water treatment facility, including equipment monitoring, chemical adjustments, and regulatory compliance.
  • Conducts routine maintenance and repairs on facility machinery, wells, and storage units.
  • Performs water quality assessments and analyses, interpreting findings and executing necessary corrective measures.
  • Responds to system alerts and emergencies, implementing appropriate solutions.
  • Keeps precise and comprehensive records of facility operations, maintenance activities, and water quality metrics.
  • Procures necessary supplies, chemicals, and equipment.
  • Ensures adherence to all local, state, and federal water quality and safety standards.
  • Provides technical guidance and assistance to the Water Superintendent.
  • Contributes to the formulation of long-term water production strategies and capacity planning.
  • Adds value by addressing customer inquiries and concerns regarding water quality and service.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED with a minimum of 5 years of experience in water distribution and production operations.
  • Possession of Level B certification for well operations and water distribution systems.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • In-depth knowledge of water treatment principles, practices, and regulations.
  • Capability to operate and maintain water treatment machinery.
  • Expertise in data analysis and recordkeeping.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively within a team.
  • Physical capability to perform tasks that involve lifting, carrying, bending, and standing for extended periods.
Work Environment

This role entails working in both indoor and outdoor settings, with exposure to various weather conditions and potential hazards associated with water treatment operations. Flexibility to work different shifts, including weekends and holidays, is essential to maintain continuous water production.
