- Emergency Response: Responds to system alarms and emergencies, taking appropriate measures to resolve issues.
- Record Keeping: Maintains accurate and detailed records of plant operations, maintenance, and water quality data.
- Supply Chain Management: Purchases supplies, chemicals, and equipment as needed.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensures compliance with all local, state, and federal water quality and safety regulations.
- Technical Support: Provides technical expertise and support to the Water Superintendent.
- Long-Term Planning: Participates in the development of long-term water production plans and capacity needs.
- Customer Service: Responds to customer inquiries and concerns regarding water quality and service.
- Education and Experience: High school diploma or GED and a minimum of 5 years of experience in water distribution and water production operations.
- Certifications: Possession of Level B certification for well operations and water distribution system operations.
- Licenses: Valid North Carolina driver's license.
- Skills and Abilities: Strong knowledge of water treatment principles, practices, and regulations; ability to operate and maintain water treatment equipment; proficiency in data analysis and recordkeeping; excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills; strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work independently and as part of a team; physical ability to perform tasks requiring lifting, carrying, bending, and standing for extended periods.
This position involves work in both indoor and outdoor environments, with exposure to various weather conditions and potential hazards associated with water treatment facilities. The position requires flexibility to work varying shifts, including weekends and holidays, to ensure continuous water production.
