Position OverviewThe Water Production Operator II plays a crucial role in the effective management and upkeep of the county's water production infrastructure and filtration treatment facility. This role necessitates a thorough understanding of water treatment methodologies, compliance with state and federal regulations, and the capability to oversee complex operations around the clock.
Key Responsibilities- Supervises the daily functions of the water treatment facility, including equipment monitoring, chemical process adjustments, and regulatory compliance.
- Conducts preventive maintenance and repairs on facility equipment, wells, and storage reservoirs.
- Performs water quality assessments and analyses, interpreting findings and executing necessary corrective measures.
- Responds to system alerts and emergencies, implementing appropriate solutions.
- Maintains precise and comprehensive records of facility operations, maintenance activities, and water quality metrics.
- Procures necessary supplies, chemicals, and equipment.
- Ensures adherence to all local, state, and federal water quality and safety standards.
- Provides technical guidance and support to the Water Superintendent.
- Contributes to the formulation of long-term water production strategies and capacity planning.
- Adds value by addressing customer inquiries and concerns regarding water quality and service.
- High school diploma or GED with a minimum of 5 years of experience in water distribution and production operations.
- Possession of Level B certification for well operations and water distribution system management.
- Valid driver's license.
- In-depth knowledge of water treatment principles, practices, and regulatory requirements.
- Capability to operate and maintain water treatment machinery.
- Expertise in data analysis and meticulous recordkeeping.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively within a team.
- Physical capability to perform tasks that involve lifting, carrying, bending, and prolonged standing.
This role entails working in both indoor and outdoor settings, with exposure to varying weather conditions and potential hazards associated with water treatment operations. Flexibility to work different shifts, including weekends and holidays, is essential to ensure uninterrupted water production.
