Exciting Opportunity for a Controls & Automation Engineer at IDEX

As a pivotal member of our engineering team, you will:

  • Design and execute electronics and control systems architecture for innovative products, ensuring seamless integration with existing OEM systems.
  • Provide expert guidance and oversight to external partners involved in programming and control system design.
  • Enhance the capabilities of our Engineering Lab's control and measurement systems, ensuring optimal performance and maintenance.
  • Serve as the internal authority on automation and control systems, contributing to product development initiatives, particularly in the realms of the Internet of Things and pump control technologies.
  • Lead the technical design of system architectures, focusing on hardware selection, wireless communication strategies, and embedded software development.
  • Support the entire product lifecycle, from initial design and development to enhancements and customer support.
  • Formulate strategies to leverage control systems and electronics to foster growth within Viking Pump.
  • Collaborate with both internal and external stakeholders on project scope, requirements, detailed designs, field testing, and root cause analysis.
  • Implement project plans that encompass conceptual design, prototyping, reliability testing, vendor interaction, and thorough documentation.
  • Conduct module and system-level verification to ensure product performance aligns with specifications.
  • Oversee electrical testing, including thermal, EMC, and ESD assessments.
  • Work closely with the Supply Chain team to evaluate and select vendor-supplied components, preparing specifications for electronic parts.
  • Engage with Sales, Marketing, and Customers to ensure product solutions meet expectations and requirements.
  • Maintain a safe and organized work environment by adhering to established procedures.
  • Assist with special projects as directed by the Engineering Director.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronic, or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution, with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Proficiency in industrial control systems and experience with 8/16/32 bit microcontrollers.
  • Familiarity with tools such as logic analyzers, DMMs, LabView, VFDs, HMIs, and DAQs.
  • Capability to create electrical schematics and PCB layouts.
  • Experience in software development using embedded frameworks and SDKs.
  • Knowledge of Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS).
  • Ability to navigate multiple certification requirements for product listings.
  • Skill in training operators and technical sales personnel on product functionality, configuration, and troubleshooting.

  • Frequent collaboration with suppliers, customers, and internal teams.
