Job Title: Infrastructure Support Specialist

This is a permanent position in our Engineering Industry, responsible for managing, maintaining, and improving our IT infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in system administration, with experience in managing and monitoring installed systems and infrastructure to ensure high levels of availability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and monitor all installed systems and infrastructure to ensure the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability.
  • Maintain security, backup, and redundancy strategies to preserve data integrity.
  • Install, configure, test, and maintain operating systems, application software, and system management tools.
  • Proactively ensure the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability.
  • Troubleshoot hardware and software errors by running diagnostics, documenting problems and resolutions, prioritizing problems, and assessing the impact of issues.
  • Provide technical support for both hardware and software issues our end-users encounter.
  • Manage the configuration and operation of client-based computer operating systems.
  • Monitor the system daily and respond immediately to security or usability concerns.
  • Implement and manage firewall configurations, VPN gateways, intrusion detection systems, and other network security devices.
  • Manage and administer MS Teams, Active Directory, and GPOs.
  • Perform and test routine system backups and restores.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in a system administration role.
  • Strong experience with MS Teams, Active Directory, and GPOs.
  • Proficient in hardware installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
  • Strong knowledge of Cisco Routers and firewall configurations.
  • Experience with Exchange and other email systems.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with a strong attention to detail.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, with a focus on rapport-building, listening, and questioning skills.
  • Strong documentation skills.
  • Ability to conduct research into a wide range of computing issues as required.
  • Self-motivated and directed, with the ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
  • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to present ideas in a user-friendly language.
  • Highly self-motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail.
