Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Water/Wastewater Operator III to join our team at the City of Tulsa. As a key member of our infrastructure maintenance team, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining our water distribution and sewer systems.

Responsibilities
  • Operate and maintain water distribution and sewer systems, including heavy equipment operation and repair
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as cleaning and inspecting equipment and facilities
  • Respond to emergency situations, such as water main breaks and sewer backups
  • Collaborate with other teams to ensure seamless operations and maintenance
  • Meet or exceed performance standards and safety protocols
Requirements
  • Graduation from high school or possession of a GED
  • Three years of progressively responsible experience in the major repair or heavy construction field, including semiskilled and skilled work
  • Valid Oklahoma Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with applicable endorsements within six months of hire
  • Valid Class D Water/Wastewater Operator's License as issued by the Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) within six months of hire
  • Confined Space Entry and Trenching & Shoring Certification within six months of hire
  • Certification on Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (S.C.B.A.) within six months of hire (some positions)
Working Conditions

This position requires working in a fast-paced environment with frequent exposure to heavy equipment, chemicals, and physical demands. You must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and work in confined spaces.
