Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Food Service Supervisor to join our team at Global Partners. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for directing and supervising all activities of the deli/food service department and its personnel to achieve merchandising, sales, and customer service goals.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Department Leadership: Direct and supervise department personnel to meet department goals and objectives, communicate directly with store management and department supervisors.
  • Team Management: Select, onboard, and coach new team members, schedule team members, and engage with customers through smiles and greetings.
  • Customer Service: Take customer orders, ensure orders are completed on time and to the customer's satisfaction, and provide product information and selling suggestions.
  • Food Safety and Sanitation: Ensure department personnel follow county, city, and company food safety and sanitation guidelines and policies.
  • Inventory Management: Order products and supplies necessary to maintain adequate stock levels and keep merchandising levels at prescribed standards.
  • Product Preparation: Oversee the preparation and serving/merchandising of deli/food service items, including breakfast, lunch, and dinner entrees, fried foods, pizzas, prepared salads, soups, sandwiches, roller grill items, hot and cold beverages, and snack items.
  • Display and Merchandising: Display deli/food service items following del/food service department and/or company merchandising guidelines.
  • Quality Control: Rotate deli/food service items for sale, ensuring quality and safety, and product shrink control.
  • Inventory Control: Receive merchandise for sale and supplies, audit invoices, break down orders, position cases of products in the deli storage area or in refrigerated walk-in coolers or frozen food walk-ins freezers.
  • Inventory Management: Periodically count product for inventory purposes.
  • Administrative Tasks: Complete all paperwork in a timely and accurate manner, process cash register transactions, give back change, and refunds.
  • Equipment Operation: Use scale printer machines, ensuring weights and pricing are correct.
  • Store Maintenance: Keep clean, neat, and orderly sales counters, food prep areas, warehouse shelving, and walk-in coolers and freezers.
  • Employee Safety: Ensure all department personnel use proper safety equipment and procedures.
Requirements:
  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Age: Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Experience: Two years prior experience in a fresh foods environment, preferably in a management role.
  • Flexibility: Flexibility to work weekend, holiday, and/or evening shifts and assist other locations as needed.
  • Transportation: Must have reliable transportation and a valid driver's license.
  • Certification: Serv-Safe certification preferred.
  • Skills: Ability to learn new products and recipes, a love of foods, and a creative nature.
  • Communication: Remain helpful, tactful, and courteous at all times, work quickly and efficiently, and add, subtract, divide, multiply, and perform other basic business math calculations.
  • Technical Skills: Learn to use registers, scales, scanners, and debit/credit terminals, read UPC codes, product labels, shelf signage, register forms, and posted company policies/procedures.
  • Physical Demands: Be able to lift up to 25lbs on occasion, reach above shoulder height and bend below waist, work in walk-in coolers and freezers, stand for long periods of time, bend and twist, and frequently lift and/or maneuver merchandise and supplies.
