Post Masters Research Associate – Fisheries Hydropower Specialist

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Post Masters Research Associate to join our team at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory. The successful candidate will be part of a large interdisciplinary team researching the effects of hydropower operations on passage and survival of juvenile salmon and lamprey throughout the Pacific Northwest.
Responsibilities- Deploy, retrieve, maintain, and test acoustic and radio telemetry equipment
- Tag or assist with surgical implantation of transmitters in fish
- Transport and release of live tagged fish according to a detailed time schedule
- Conduct fieldwork, data collection, data analysis, and report writing
- Assist with laboratory studies handling fish, conducting in-depth necropsies, and maintaining fish populations in aquaculture facilities
- Master's degree in fisheries, environmental sciences, or a biology-related field within the last two years
- Knowledge of telemetry study design and array maintenance
- Experience with field work, handling and tagging live fish, and managing large datasets
- Familiarity with mark-recapture study designs and survival estimation, multiple regression modeling, and/or maximum likelihood estimation
- Boat driving experience is desirable
Long hours, inclement weather, industrial hydroelectric projects, work on water, heavy lifting
