Post Bachelors Research Associate – Fisheries Hydropower Specialist

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Research Associate to join our team at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory. The successful candidate will be part of a large interdisciplinary team that conducts research on the effects of hydropower operations on fish passage and survival in the Pacific Northwest.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct fieldwork, including deploying, retrieving, and maintaining acoustic and radio telemetry equipment, as well as tagging or assisting with surgical implantation of transmitters in fish.
- Collect and analyze data, including data from fieldwork, laboratory studies, and other sources.
- Assist with laboratory studies, including handling fish, conducting necropsies, and maintaining fish populations in aquaculture facilities.
- Develop and maintain databases and spreadsheets to track and analyze data.
- Prepare reports and presentations for project stakeholders.
- Bachelor's degree in fisheries, environmental sciences, or a related field, received within the past 24 months or within the next 8 months from an accredited college or university.
- Minimum overall GPA of 2.5 required.
- Strong written and oral communication skills, as evidenced by scientific publications and conference presentations.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
- US Citizenship required.
The successful candidate will be required to work in a variety of environments, including laboratories, field settings, and industrial hydroelectric projects. The position may require frequent travel within the region and occasional overnight stays.
