Fisheries Hydropower Research Associate

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Postgraduate Research Associate to join our team at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting research on the effects of hydropower operations on fish passage and survival in the Pacific Northwest region.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct fieldwork, including deploying, retrieving, and maintaining acoustic and radio telemetry equipment, as well as tagging and handling live fish.
- Collect and analyze data, including data from telemetry equipment and fish handling.
- Assist with laboratory studies, including handling fish, conducting necropsies, and maintaining fish populations in aquaculture facilities.
- Collaborate with a large interdisciplinary team to achieve project goals.
- Bachelor's degree in fisheries, environmental sciences, or a related field, received within the past 24 months or within the next 8 months from an accredited college or university.
- Minimum overall GPA of 2.5 required.
- Strong written and oral communication skills, as evidenced by scientific publications and conference presentations.
- Ability to work independently and in a team setting.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Knowledge of telemetry study design and array maintenance, as well as experience handling and tagging live fish.
- Experience with fieldwork, data analysis, and data management.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing project requirements.
The successful candidate will be required to work in a variety of environments, including industrial hydroelectric projects, on water, and in inclement weather. Long hours and heavy lifting may be required.
