Position Overview:

The primary responsibility is to ensure cleanliness in all production and receiving areas by thoroughly cleaning and sanitizing processing equipment, while adhering to established quality and sanitation protocols. This role is essential in maintaining equipment and ensuring compliance with food safety regulations to deliver safe, high-quality products to customers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Remove lint, dust, oil, and grease from all production machinery, disassembling parts as necessary and reassembling equipment for all production lines. This includes cleaning overhead pipes and conveyors.
  • Sanitize all processing tanks and vats, including cleaning or replacing filters as needed.
  • Support daily operational efficiency and sanitation tasks, assisting in the upkeep of all sanitation-related equipment.
  • Utilize sanitation chemicals to clean floors and manage the transportation of trash and waste to designated disposal areas.
  • Participate actively in training new employees and/or transfers.
  • Complete all necessary documentation accurately and promptly.
  • Adhere to all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), safety protocols, company policies, quality standards, and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) relevant to this role.
  • Operate forklifts or hand lifts to move materials as required.
  • Report any issues or concerns to the appropriate personnel.
  • Follow all food safety policies, procedures, and regulatory standards, including the current SQF code, GMP, and the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) along with associated Preventive Controls.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience.
  • Previous sanitation experience in a food manufacturing environment is preferred.
Skills and Knowledge:
  • Strong reading and math skills to fulfill job requirements accurately.
  • Mechanical aptitude and good hand-eye coordination are essential.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Completion of training and a solid understanding of sanitation responsibilities for all production lines.

Physical Requirements:
This position regularly involves a combination of sitting, standing, walking, climbing, squatting, kneeling, pushing, and pulling. Physical strength and dexterity are necessary to perform required tasks. Occasional lifting and/or moving of up to 50 pounds or more with assistance may be required. Additional physical demands may apply.

Work Environment:
Work schedules may include after-hours and weekends as necessary. Employees may work outdoors and in varying temperatures, including extreme heat, cold, and humidity. Exposure to fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and vibrations may occur. Personal protective equipment must be worn as per established company safety standards. Work may also be required in confined or dark spaces, and at heights exceeding 18 feet for extended periods.
