Cleaning and Sanitation Specialist

Position Overview:
The primary responsibility is to ensure cleanliness across all production and receiving zones by sanitizing processing machinery and upholding the areas in line with approved quality and sanitation protocols. This role is essential for maintaining equipment and adhering to food safety standards to guarantee the delivery of safe, high-quality products to our clientele.
Key Responsibilities:
- Remove lint, dust, oil, and grease from all production machinery, disassembling parts as necessary and reassembling the equipment for all production lines. Cleaning of overhead pipes and conveyors is also included.
- Sanitize all processing tanks and vats, including cleaning or replacing filters as needed.
- Support the maintenance of daily operational production efficiency and sanitation tasks. Aid in the upkeep of all sanitation-related equipment.
- Utilize sanitation chemicals to clean floors as required, and transport waste to designated disposal areas.
- Actively engage in the training of new employees and/or transfers.
- Complete all necessary documentation accurately and promptly.
- Adhere to all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), safety protocols, company policies, quality standards, and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points relevant to this role.
- Operate forklifts or hand lifts to move materials as necessary.
- Report any issues or concerns to the appropriate personnel.
- Responsible for following all food safety policies, procedures, and regulatory standards, including the current SQF code, Good Manufacturing Practices, and the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) along with associated Preventive Controls.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience.
- Prior sanitation experience in a food manufacturing environment is preferred.
- Strong reading and math skills to accurately fulfill job requirements.
- Mechanical aptitude and good hand-eye coordination are essential.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Completion of training and a solid understanding of sanitation responsibilities for all production lines.

This role regularly requires a combination of sitting, standing, walking, climbing, squatting, kneeling, pushing, and pulling. Physical strength and dexterity are necessary to perform the required tasks. Occasional lifting and/or moving of up to 50 pounds or more with assistance may be necessary. Additional physical demands may apply.
Work Environment:
Work schedules may include after-hours and weekends as necessary. Employees may work outdoors and in varying temperatures, including extreme heat, cold, and humidity. Exposure to fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and vibrations may occur. Personal protective equipment must be worn as required by established safety standards. Work may involve confined and dark spaces, as well as heights exceeding 18 feet for extended periods.
