Position Overview
The Purchasing Coordinator plays a crucial role in the procurement of maintenance, repair, and operations (MRO) supplies, as well as building and industrial products for our esteemed U.S. Military clientele. This on-site specialist is dedicated to sourcing and acquiring a diverse range of products while also supporting the warehouse operations as necessary.
Key Responsibilities
To successfully fulfill this role, the individual must be capable of performing the essential duties outlined below:
- Engage with suppliers to secure pricing and availability information.
- Generate and assess purchase orders, potentially reaching substantial financial amounts, without requiring prior authorization.
- Coordinate order placements to align with customer timelines and diligently follow up with vendors regarding order progress.
- Deliver exceptional customer service by providing order confirmations, product availability updates, and resolving any issues related to orders.
- Accelerate order processing and collaborate with logistics partners to ensure timely delivery of urgent requests.
- Input customer, product, and vendor information into the proprietary e-commerce system while adhering to contractual obligations.
- Collaborate with warehouse personnel to receive, evaluate, and organize incoming shipments.
- Investigate and rectify discrepancies in purchase orders concerning pricing, quantities, and product descriptions, documenting all changes in the system.
- Select transportation carriers, negotiate shipping rates, and address operational challenges with freight service providers.
- Process freight invoices, manage freight claims, and issue credits as necessary.
- Provide backup support for other operational functions as required.
- Execute additional related tasks as assigned.

Education and Experience
The ideal candidate will have:
- Eligibility to pass a Department of Defense background check.
- An associate degree in a relevant field or a comparable combination of education and experience.
- A background in customer service, complemented by strong organizational and time management skills.
- Experience in procuring MRO, building, and industrial products.
Technical Skills
Proficiency in the following software is required:
- MS Office Suite
- Google Docs
- NetSuite/Oracle
- Other relevant business applications
